The Kano State Police Command has announced the arrest of several foreign nationals believed to be sponsoring the protesters. This revelation came after a security meeting between the state’s Police Commissioner, Salman Dogo, and the Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf.
During the protests, which began as a call to “End Bad Governance,” some demonstrators were seen flying Russian flags, a development that has raised concerns among authorities. Following this, security forces intensified their operations, leading to the arrest of the foreign suspects.
“The police and other security agencies will clamp down on anyone attempting to tamper with the security of the state,” said Dogo, while speaking to journalists after the meeting.

He emphasised that the authorities are taking all necessary steps to maintain peace and order in the state.
In response to the escalating situation, Governor Abba Yusuf convened an emergency meeting with heads of security agencies. After the meeting, the governor announced a further relaxation of the existing curfew, which will now run from 6 am to 6 pm.
“We are committed to ensuring the security of Kano State and the well-being of our citizens,” said Governor Yusuf.
“The relaxation of the curfew is aimed at easing the burden on our people while we continue to monitor the situation closely.”
Despite the curfew relaxation, the governor assured residents that security forces remain on high alert to prevent any further disturbances.
The state government and security agencies urged residents to remain calm and law-abiding, as efforts to stabilise the situation continue.
This latest development has added a new dimension to the nationwide protests, as authorities work to uncover the full extent of foreign involvement and its implications for national security.
