The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has concluded collation of results for the Edo State governorship election which started earlier in the morning.
The Returning Officer for the election, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, who is also the Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Technology, Minna, announced the result of the last local government at around 8:40pm.
Results from all the 18 local government have now been collated and announced.
The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Monday Okpebholo, maintained his lead ahead of PDP’s Asue Ighodalo.
He leads in 11 local government areas out of the total 18, leaving Ighodalo with only 7.
Meanwhile, the PDP agent, Iyoha Osaigbovo Toni, is calling for the suspension of final declaration of result by INEC.
The returning officer is now recording the results before declaring the winner of the election.
17 political parties participated in the election intending to take over the reins of leadership from incumbent Governor Godwin Obaseki whose tenure ends in November.
