Members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), University of Jos branch, have announced the withdrawal of their services due to what they described as the delay in the payment of their June 2025 salary.

The chairperson of the branch, Jurbe Molwus, confirmed that the withdrawal would continue until the salary is paid following the agreement reached with the government.

Sequel to the National Executive Council resolution directing branches to take action when salary is not paid by the third day of a new month, and the congress affirming the position, the union said its members have abstained from lectures and statutory meetings.

The chairperson stated further that anytime the salary is not paid by the third day of the month, there would be a continuous withdrawal of services by the lecturers.

He also said that the strike monitoring team of the branch had been activated to monitor compliance.

“Dear comrades, this is to request all members to abstain from lectures and statutory meetings if our salary for the month of June 2025 is not paid by 11:59 pm today, July 3, 2025,” he said in a message circulated to members.

“This is in line with the extant NEC resolution that ‘branches should take action when salary is not paid by the third day of a new month’ and our congress resolution of June 4, 2025, affirming this position.

“The action takes effect from 12:01 am on Friday, July 4, 2025.

“Please ensure full compliance until you are communicated to resume work. The strike monitoring team of the branch will be activated to monitor compliance.”
