The Managing Director, Overland Airways, Captain Edward Boyo, on Monday said that the exit of Stella Oduah from the Ministry of Aviation will not affect the progress of the sector, reiterating that “the removal of a minister should not affect things in any sector at all.”

He buttressed his opinion, saying that the “government works by policies and manifestos” and the ministerial system answers to the president.  “It’s a continuum so anyone who accepts the job of a minister knows that at some point they will have to exit,” he said.

While speaking on Channels Television’s breakfast programme, Sunrise Daily, he commended the progress made in the sector.

“That sector has been evolving. It has been running pretty well,” he said and explained that the sector was guided by both local and international agencies, as there are conventions guiding the different aspects of the sector including training, operation, safety measures and documentation of activities.

He further stated that “aviation practice is regulated. It is not about one minister or another. Any minister that comes in will follow those procedures.”

Mr Boyo also called on stakeholders in the industry to exercise patience with the government regarding issues affecting the sector and contribute their quote to ensure its progress.
