Ogun Police Rescue Another Child In Chains

Police-Militants-LagosThe Ogun State Police Command says it has rescued a 10-year-old girl, Promise Ude, who was chained by her aunt for stealing 4,000 Naira at Adigbe area of Abeokuta, the state capital.

The rescue is coming barely a week after nine-year-old Korede Taiwo, who was chained by his pastor father, was rescued by security operatives in Ajibawo area of Ogun State.

The acting Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed that a middle aged man has been arrested in connection with the crime while another woman in connection with the incident is on the run.

Mr Oyeyemi promised that those involved in the evil act would be brought to book.

He asked for quality information that could lead to the arrest of the fleeing woman said to have perpetrated the act.

Ogun Govt. Adopts Chained Boy, Korede Taiwo

Korede Taiwo, Ogun StateOgun State government has adopted a nine-year-old boy, Korede Taiwo, who was chained by his pastor father for an alleged stealing habit.

The state government also promised to take care of the young boy’s educational needs among others.

The disclosure was made on Tuesday by the Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Modupe Mujota.

She spoke while the wife of the Governor, Mrs Olufunso Amosun and other members of the State Executive Council paid a visit to the boy.

The Commissioner for Justice, Olumide Ayeni, also said that the government has commenced a legal process to bring to justice, all actors in the case of Korede Taiwo so as to serve as a deterrent to others.

Korede is being treated for child abuse and chronic malnutrition at the Federal Medical Centre, Idi Aba in Abeokuta, the state capital in southwest Nigeria.

He is said to be in good condition and responding to treatment.

Mr Francis Taiwo, Korede’s father had confirmed to Channels Television that he actually chained his son, saying his action was borne out of his desire to rid the boy of his ‘stealing spirit’.

He said that he felt the young boy was possessed and after consulting with some spiritualists, he was advised to chain the boy to rid him of the evil spirit.

child abuse, chained boy, Celestial ChurchThe Police in Ogun State have arrested a 40-year old man, Francis Taiwo for chaining his son, Korede for over a month at a Celestial Church in Ajibawo, Otta Local Government Area of the state.

Mr Taiwo, who claims to be an ordained pastor, was arrested a day after his son was rescued by a team of security operatives in the state.

Mr Taiwo confirmed to Channels Television that he actually chained his son. He said that his action was borne out of his desire to rid the boy of his ‘stealing spirit’.

He said that he felt the young boy was possessed and after consulting with some spiritualists, he was advised to chain the boy to rid him of the evil spirit.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Ogun State, Muyiwa Adejobi, says the suspect will be charged to court once investigations are concluded.

The case is expected to be transferred to the Anti Human trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the Command.

Ex-Minister, Iyabo Anisulowo Narrates ‘Excruciating’ Kidnap Experience

Iyabo AnisulowoFormer Minister of State for Education, Mrs Iyabo Anisulowo, has described her abduction as one that tells the story of the grace of God upon the lives of men.

In an exclusive interview with Channels Television, she narrated how the kidnappers took her and all that happened while she was away in captivity.

She said it was a difficult experience as she lived only on water for days but that she had forgiven her captors.

From the multiple locations she was taken, to the negotiations for ransom and the treatment she got from the gunmen, she described the kidnap experience as a tough one.

The former senator regained her freedom on Tuesday evening after she was rescued in a town called Gbegbelawo near Olorunda Town in Ogun State.

Although she was not tortured by the kidnappers, she showed injuries she sustained on the motorcycle while she was being transported across the forest in Ogun State, adding that the tools used to keep her captive were also difficult to bear.

“We fell down many times and the silencer (exhaust pipe) of the bike burnt me and they didn’t allow me to cry. They said I should shut up because they didn’t want anyone to see them.

“I was confused because I never thought such could happen, especially in my area,” she said, revealing how the kidnappers demanded the sum of 100 million Naira ransom from her and compelled her to rally friends and relatives to pay the money.

Senator Anisulowo, who represented Ogun West Senatorial district between 2003-2007 at the Senate, was kidnapped alongside her security aide in Igbogila area of Ogun state.

She was abducted while returning from her farm by four armed men and spent seven days with her captors.

 

Kidnapped Senator, Iyabo Anisulowo, Regains Freedom

AnisulowoA chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a onetime Senator, Mrs Iyabo Anisulowo, has been rescued.

Senator Anisulowo, who represented Ogun West Senatorial district between 2003-2007 at the Senate, was kidnapped alongside her security aide in Igbogila area of Ogun state.

She was abducted while returning from her farm by four armed men last Thursday.

She was rescued in a town called Gbegbelawo near Olorunda Town in Ogun State at about 7PM on Tuesday, May 3, 2016.

Police say two suspects have been arrested in connection with the kidnap.

Prior to her rescue, the Ogun State Police Command had constantly given the assurance that the kidnapped former senator would be rescued unhurt and the culprits apprehended.

The Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, has also deployed two Police helicopters for the search.

Just 24 hours before her eventual rescue, the Ogun State Police Command had offered a reward of five million Naira to anyone with useful information that could lead to the rescue of the abducted Senator Iyabo Anisulowo.

Senator Anisulowo served in the 5th Senate of the National Assembly between 2003 and 2007. She also served as a Minister of State for Education under the administration of late President Umaru Yarádua.

Police Offer 5mln Naira For Information On Abducted Senator Anisulowo

AnisulowoThe Ogun State Police Command has offered a reward of five million Naira to anyone with useful information that could lead to the rescue of the abducted Senator Iyabo Anisulowo.

This offer was communicated by the Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Police Command, Mr Muyiwa Adejobi in Abeokuta, the state capital.

The command has however debunked media report of 200 million Naira being demanded by the abductors, saying nothing of such has been communicated  by her abductors

Senator Iyabo Anisulowo was kidnapped on her way home from her farm located around Sawonjo area of Ogun State, South West Nigeria.

Police Deploy Helicopters To Search For Ex-Minister, Anisulowo

Ogun Police Intercept Tanker With Stolen Petrol

Ogun-policeThe Ogun State Police Command says its operatives attached to Sagamu Division intercepted a truck loaded with vandalised Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) in Sagamu area of the state.

This is barely four days after a 33,000-litre truck loaded with stolen petrol was intercepted in Ogijo, Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State.

According to a press statement by the spokesman for the command, Muyiwa Adejobi, the Police operatives acted on a tip-off which led to the arrest of one of the vandals named Elochukwu Byron. He said other suspects escaped.

The suspect and the exhibits, according to Mr Adejobi, would be transferred to the Department of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence, in Eleweran Abeokuta, for further investigation on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State, Abdulmajid Ali.

Mr Ali has also put all officers and men of the command on their toes to make sure that pipelines and installations are adequately protected, particularly during a period of fuel crisis like the one being witnessed across Nigeria.

He warned that many of the hoodlums would want to seize the opportunity to perpetrate their criminal act of economic sabotage.

Ogun Police Parade Armed Robbery Suspects

ogun police-on suspectsThe Ogun State Police Command has arrested and paraded five armed robbery suspects terrorizing residents of  Ado Odo and Ota Local Government Area of the state.

Among the suspects was a night guard employed to provide security in one of the communities in the area.

Parading the suspects at the state headquarters of the Special Anti-robbery Squad in Abeokuta, the state capital, the Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said that the men had been linked to many armed robbery operations around the state.

Items recovered from them include guns, bullets, charms, different types of phones and a Toyota Highlander SUV which the Police said had been returned to its owner after a Proof of Ownership was presented.

While assuring residents of the state of adequate security, the Ogun Police Command challenged them to always give useful information to the Police on suspicious movement around their areas for effective policing.

Gunmen Kidnap Tai Solarin University Deputy Vice Chancellor

Tai SolarinThe Deputy Vice Chancellor of  Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, Ogun State, Prof. Olusoga Olusanya, has been kidnapped.

Prof. Olusanya was said to be on his way from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta where he had gone on an official assignment when he was abducted by unknown gunmen.

He was said to have visited FUNAB where he served as an external invigilator at the ongoing postgraduate examination and was returning late Monday evening before he was waylaid at the bad portion of the Odogbolu and Ososa, along the Ijebu Ode-Ore-Benin expressway when he was coming from Abeokuta.

The news of the abduction of the DVC forced the University Senate to abruptly postpone the emergency University Senate meeting which was scheduled for Tuesday.

Confirming the incident, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi, said that investigations have begun on the matter.

As at the time of filling this report, the kidnappers are yet to contact the family members for ransom.
