The House of Representatives has mandated a committee to carry out a comprehensive investigation of public funds and assets recovered from 1999 till date.
Raising a motion on the issue, the sponsor, Rep. Segun Adekola, noted that the country is said to have recovered a lot of funds looted from the country’s treasury and the exact amount recovered is not clear.
The House Committee on Public Accounts, which is to investigate this, is also to ascertain what use this funds are supposed to have been put to.
The Committee on Financial Crimes is also to investigate if crimes have been committed in the course of managing and disbursing these recovered funds.
