
About 50 of the doctors on internship with the Ministry held a peaceful protest in front of the corporate headquarters of Channels Television in Isheri north, Lagos to voice their displeasure.
They alleged that all efforts to get their salaries from the ministry have been futile and they called for the government’s intervention.
The defence ministry however asked the aggrieved doctors to be patient as efforts are being made to address the situation.
Meanwhile, the National Industrial Court, sitting in Lagos will on Thursday decide whether it has the jurisdiction to hear the case instituted against the Lagos state government by the 788 medical doctors whose appointment were recently terminated.
Presiding judge, Justice Benedict Kanyip fixed the date after counsel to the two parties argued a preliminary objection filed by state government challenging the jurisdiction of the court to hear the matter.
The doctors in the suit instituted by the chairman of the Medical Guild, Dr Olumuyiwa Odusote and the general secretary, Dr Idris Durojaiye, on behalf of members of the guild asked the court to void the identical dismissal letters issued to them by the government.
