World football governing body, FIFA, has released rankings for the month of  May with World and European champions, Spain maintaining top spot.

Nigeria’s Super Eagles again lost grounds against their fellow African nations as they dropped three places from their position in the last rankings released for the month of April, bagging 63rd position in the world and 12th in Africa.

Ivory Coast, Algeria, Ghana, Mali, Zambia, Gabon and Libya maintained their positions in Africa while South Africa moved up four places to 14th in Africa and 67th in the world to bag the most improved African team for the month of May.

Cameroon tightly-gripped their previous position as they remained 64th and 13th in world and Africa respectively.

African champions Zambia emerged the 40th best country in the world while scooping 5th position in Africa.

Spain, Germany, Uruguay, Netherlands, Portugal, Brazil, England and Croatia maintained the top eight positions.
