A combined team of soldiers and other security agencies on Thursday morning discovered a bomb making factory at a house located at Makarfi Street in Rigasa, Igabi local government area of Kaduna state, following a tip off from some members of the public.

The assistant director public relations of Nigerian Army one division; Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman in a statement he issued to journalists said the discovery followed a cordon and search operation carried out  in the area by security agents on Thursday morning.

The exchange of fire that ensued however resulted to the death of five terrorists, while the two others that sustained various degrees of injuries are being treated at the hospital.

Colonel Usman stated that the building housing the bomb making factory has been demolished in line with Army’s resolve to deter terrorists from their activities.

During the operation, five mark-4 rifles, three pump action rifles, twenty rolls of detonating cords and twenty one 9’ volt batteries were recovered. Other weapons recovered during the operation include two remote switches, five assorted daggers and jack-knives and one firing cable as well as other improvised explosive devices materials.

The Army spokesman further disclosed that some suspected terrorists opened fire and also threw the already primed IEDs at the troop as they approached the bomb factory.

The statement further commended the efforts of the well-meaning citizens that reported the matter and also reiterate Army’s resolve to fight terrorism in the country.

Colonel Usman also appealed to the public to report any suspicious movement, establishment or persons in their environment as such information would be treated with absolute confidentiality.
