The Acting Governor of Cross River State, Mr Efiok Cobham has promised to make the state uncomfortable for pipeline bunkers, describing the act as a crime against the nations economy.

This he said shortly after some security personnel led raid on another oil bunkering haven in Calabar, the Cross River State Capital.

Items destroyed are over 500 jerry cans laden with petroleum products and pumping machines were stacked in a big barge, waiting to be evacuated into the state capital before it was intercepted and destroyed in Esuk Otu creek in Calabar Municipality.

According to him, the bid to rid the state and country of illegal bunkery is in line with the directive of the Federal Government and policy of the government of Cross River State to attain zero tolerance to such criminal activities.

Commending the security operatives for living up to their expectations, he promised to ensure that they are provided with the necessary support to further beef up security along the water ways, adding that the operation will serve as a deterrent to others who may see the state as safe haven.
