Yobe PDP has suffered a major crisis as prominent members have shifted their loyalty to the All Nigeria Peoples’ Party (ANPP) ahead of their convention which is billed to hold for this weekend in Gusau the capital of Zamfara State.

Former deputy Governor of the state from 1999-2007 Alhaji Aliyu Saleh Bagare, Senator Adamu Talba who lost out in the last election and former Speaker of the State House of Assembly Rt Hon. Tijanni Zannah Zakariya and several others were among those who defected from the ruling party to ANPP.

Senator Adamu Talba, while addressing the gathering at the reception ceremony in Damaturu said all those that defected have suffered under the PDP, as he expressed happiness for joining the ANPP which he said is waxing stronger.

While describing the PDP as merciless, he said they have decided to join the ANPP because of the Laudable policies of the Governor Ibrahim Gaidam whom he said has transformed the state within a very short period.

The senator also decried lack of Federal Government presence in not just Yobe alone but the entire north-east and by extension the whole country.

The PDP Chairman in Yobe State; Hon Lawan Gana Karasuwa in a swift reaction to the defection says it is “neither a threat nor a loss to the biggest party in Africa”

“In actual sense, the so called “decampees” were in the PDP momentarily as implants and agents of the ANPP and having completed their contract, they went back home. Nobody ever considered them as serious members of the PDP as they came with the aim of causing disunity while nursing some unreasonable expectations for self-advancement”

Yobe PDP according to the Chairman is very intact and its members remain very loyal, committed to the party and very proud with the dividends of democracy so far reaped during the Jonathan administration saying the party is unwavering in its commitment and readiness to ensuring electoral victory in the state.
