The strike action of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) in Ekiti state over the non-payment of a 27.5 per cent teachers’ pecuniary allowance has been suspended.
The suspension was announced after an agreement for a 16 per cent allowance was reached between the teachers’ union and the state government.
The chairman of the Union, Kayode Akosile, said the agreement reached is painfully accepted because of the love they have for the people of Ekiti state.
Meanwhile, the commissioner for Labour and Human Capital Development in the state, Mr. Oluwole Ariyo said the payment of the 16 per cent will commence by August this year.
