Seven persons suspected to be Ombatse militia have been killed by a rival group of Kamberi tribes in Lafia on Monday afternoon, following heavy gun battle.

The battle ground between the armed groups shifted few metres away from the Emir Palace road where one Ombatse was killed and his body burnt earlier on November 13.

About seven persons were admitted to the Dalhatu Araf specialist hospital on Monday morning from the renewed violence after three Eggon boys were killed at Shabu, a suburb of Lafia.

Eyewitnesses  in the area accounted that some Ombatse militia came attacking residents living around Namu clinic on UAC road, Lafia the state capital.
Seven of them were killed by the Kamberi armed group who were said to be immune to bullets fired at them by the Ombatse group.

Banks and other businesses remained closed, as residents scampered for safety.

A joint military and police patrol and riot squad are now sweeping across the state capital as the gun battle and sporadic shootings rage on.
