The Minister of State for Defence, Col. Augustine Akobundu, has tasked the Nigerian Armed Forces to maintain its loyalty to constitutional authority, even as the current government begins to wind down.

The Minister during his maiden visit to the Defence headquarters also commended the military for its resourcefulness in tackling the insecurity in the country.

He urged the leadership of the armed forces to accord the incoming administration the same loyalty and support accorded previous administrations and the current administration.

On his part the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, maintained the loyalty of the armed forces rests with the constitution alone.
