Communities attacked by suspected herdsmen in Adamawa State on Wednesday called on the Acting Inspector General of Police to immediately remove Mr Mohammed Ghazalli as the Adamawa State Commissioner of Police.

The umbrella organization of the Bwatiye communities, Pene Da Bwatiye made this demand at a media briefing held at the Nigerian Union of Journalist in Yola, the Adamawa State capital.

They also condemned, in strong terms, the killing of 25 persons and displacement of 2,500 inhabitants in Kodomun village a week ago by the suspected herdsmen.

The Chairman of the organization, Prince Hebron Audi Fada alleged that from January to July 2016, similar mass killings took place in Bwatiye communities across the state claiming 72 lives, including a Divisional Police Officer (DPO).

Their demand is coming days after the Federal Government promised to provide more security and shelter for residents of the attacked village.

The Special Adviser to the President on Policy Development and Analysis, Ibrahim Bapetel Hassan, said this while leading a federal government delegation to the attacked village.

The team assured the paramount ruler of the Batta Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Alhamdu Teneke, of providing shelter and security for the people.

“I have heard the request of the paramount ruler and I will take that message to the government.

“He has requested for presence of security and shelter for the victims that were displaced and therefore the government will surely do something about that”, Hassan said.
