Major General Ibrahim Attahiru has taken over from Major General Lucky Irabor as the Theatre Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole.
During the official handing over ceremony at the theatre command headquarters, the new Operation Lafiya Dole Commander promised to build on the achievement of his predecessor to quickly end the Boko Haram insurgency.
“We would revamp and rejig the entire troops in the theatre to make them more robust. He (Irabor) has done a whole lot of work here so all we would do is to build upon what he has done the entire idea is to provide a decisive idea for a quick and final victory in the counter-insurgency,” Attahiru, who is the immediate past General Officer Commanding the 82 Division, said.
Major General Irabor, who has proceeded to resume as the Commander Multi-National Joint Task Force, urged Nigerians to be patriotic and cooperate with operatives.
He said, “Boko haram does no one no good; the life of every officer and soldier and indeed the average Nigerian on the street his life is also at stake. We as responsible citizens must understand that we have a role to play.
“So far so good, but what is required of us is to sustain that momentum of course also knowing that the threat is dynamic the new ideas, new threats new inputs would warrant our common understanding in dealing with the issues.”
