Members of the Social Democratic Party in Ekiti State have come out to decide who would fly the party’s flag in the governorship election scheduled for July 14, 2018.

Unlike the approach adopted by other parties in conducting primaries, the SDP is not using delegates for its primaries.

Rather, all members of the party will vote for the candidate of their choice and the primary will hold at the various wards.

The distribution of electoral materials commenced in the morning at the party secretariat in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.

Three governorship aspirants – Mr Olamide Oni, Mr Dare Bejide and Mr Ayegbusi Oladele – are battling for the ticket.

The SDP is holding its primary two days after the incumbent Deputy Governor of Ekiti, Professor Kolapo Olusola, won the PDP governorship primary.

After failing to pick a candidate for the race on Saturday last week as its primary ended in violence, the All Progressives Congress will take another shot at the primary on Saturday.
