Seven police officers have been killed by gunmen in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

The policemen were reportedly gunned down on Monday at Galadimawa Junction, just off the international airport road in Abuja.

The reasons for the attack still remains sketchy.

However, it was gathered that the gunmen who were in a vehicle opened fire on the police officers and zoomed off.

The Police have confirmed that seven police officers were killed by armed robbers in the Galadimawa area of the federal capital territory.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Mr Jimoh Moshood, told journalists at a news conference that the men were killed in the line of duty.

Mr Moshood added that the police have commenced an investigation to identify those behind the attack and arrest them.

The incident has since caused panic among Abuja residents.

This attack occurred less than three months after about four police officers were killed in an ambush in Benue State.
