Fire has engulfed the Sokoto central market destroying goods and properties.
The cause of the incident which occurred on Tuesday is yet unknown as some traders say the fire started from some plastic materials.
Officials of the Federal and State Fire Service in Sokoto are working with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and other security agencies to put out the fire outbreak.
An official of the Federal Fire Service said the large crowd that gathered are making their work difficult.
He admitted that a shortage of equipment is also a challenge, adding that a bulldozer is required to create space for firefighters to the fire.
