No fewer than seven police personnel have been killed by suspected bandits along the Tofa-Magami road in Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Sources say the incident occurred around 6:00 pm on Monday when the police operatives were patrolling the area.

The bandits were said to have ambushed the police operatives, killing seven of them and setting ablaze the operational vehicle.

According to eyewitnesses, the bandits who were about 100, engaged the Police operatives in a gun duel before overpowering and killing them.

Channels Television’s efforts to contact the state police command proved futile as both the Commissioner of Police Ayuba Elkana and the Spokesperson of the Command, SP Mohammed Shehu, were unreachable.

However, the Spokesperson for Yarima Bakura Specialist Hospital Gusau, Awwal Ruwandoruwa, confirmed receiving seven dead bodies of the slain police operatives.
