Gov Kefas Condemns Renewed Attack On Taraba Community

Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, has condemned the attack on the Munga Lelau community in the Karim Lamido Local Government Area of the state, which led to the death of an unspecified number of persons.

The gunmen launched the attack as the locals returned from their farmlands as the rainy season surged in the state.

It happened on Friday evening, a few weeks after gunmen suspected to be bandits attacked and killed two farmers in the Bandawa community, local of the local government area.

Describing the carnage as horrendous and unacceptable, Governor Kefas said such occurrences only dragged the state backward instead of the progress it should be making.

”It would be recalled that Karim Lamido has been in the news lately for banditry attacks. Recent reports have it that in a fresh attack, many lives were lost in the Munga Lelau community,” he said in a press statement issued by his special adviser Media and digital communication Emmanuel Bello.

The governor warned that the aggressors would suffer great repercussions.

He also reiterated his commitment to continue to secure the state from external attacks and other forms of aggression.

Consequently, Governor Kefas stressed the need for greater collaboration between the people and security forces, especially in the areas of vigilance and sensitive information sharing.

The governor assured the state of his administration’s resolve to continue prioritising security above anything else, noting that the safety of the citizenry remained his main job.

He further noted that all necessary measures had been put in place to nip the escalation of hostilities and to bring all troublemakers to justice.

While appealing for calm, he urged citizens to be very conscious of their environment and report all suspicious movements to law enforcement agencies.
