The Kano State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the attempted murder and robbery of Afrobeats singer Lil Kesh.
Police reported that the artiste was attacked at his Lagos residence in August and robbed of over ₦2 million.
This incident followed the circulation of a blurry photo of him, which went viral and raised concerns about the safety of the former YBNL signee.
Force spokesman Abdullahi Haruna confirmed the arrests on Saturday, describing them as a “significant breakthrough” in tackling violent crime.
“On 11 September 2025, operatives arrested two suspects at Na’ibawa Quarters, Kano, following intelligence reports,” Haruna said in a statement.
The suspects were identified as 25-year-old Mathew Adewole of Na’ibawa Quarters and 31-year-old Mukhtar Muhammad of Unguwa Uku Quarters, Kano.
Haruna explained that Adewole confessed to attacking the artiste at Bera Estate, Chevron, Lagos, on 19 August 2025.
“The attack left the victim with a deep cut on his neck,” he added.

According to the police, Adewole also admitted to forcing Lil Kesh to transfer ₦2,120,000 into Muhammad’s account during the robbery.
Haruna said the arrests followed the directives of Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun to strengthen intelligence and community policing.
The suspects have since been handed over to the Lagos State Police Command for further investigation and prosecution.
Kano Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, commended the operatives for their diligence and urged the public to continue cooperating with security agencies.
“The command remains committed to law and order, working closely with stakeholders to combat crime,” Haruna said.
