Yemi Alade Meets Royal Family, Shines At Earthshot Prize Awards

Nigeria’s Afrobeats diva, Yemi Alade recently performed at the first-ever Earthshot Prize Awards ceremony held on Sunday at Alexandra Palace, London.

The Earthshot prize is a Nobel-like award founded by the Duke of Cambridge and renowned British naturalist David Attenborough with the aim of inspiring innovative solutions to the most pressing environmental challenges currently facing the planet.

Representing Africa, Yemi Alade delivered a rendition of her hit single “Rain” at the ceremony, wearing a gorgeous red Ankara playsuit designed by Athena.

The exclusive and globally broadcast event was organised by the Royal Foundation, led by Prince Williams.

Speaking after her performance at the event, Yemi Alade said she was elated to have been invited by the Royal family to perform alongside musical geniuses like Ed Sheeran, among others.

“The event was simply amazing and I am elated to have represented Africa and Africans on global stage. It’s our time to shine and the world is focused on our music. I appreciate the Royal family and Prince William for the honour extended to me”, she said.

Also in a post on her Instagram page, she appreciated Prince Williams and Duchess Kate for recognising and selecting her song.

The singer was also on the red carpet with Emma Thompson, host Dermot O’Leary, Clara Amfo, and Ed Sheeran.

The event also had in attendance, the crème of sports; Mohammed Salah, Danni Alves, of entertainment; David Oyelowo, Emma Thompson, from the British government; Mayor of London Sadiq Khan, the Royal family; Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Prince William and Kate Middleton, among others.

‘Africa Has Lost A King,’ Stars, Fans Mourn DJ Arafat

Nigerian music stars and fans of Cote D’Ivorain singer, DJ Arafat, on Monday took to social media to mourn after the shocking news of his death.

David Adeleke popularly known as Davido and Yemi Alade was one of the Nigerian stars who paid condolence after news of DJ Arafat’s death went viral.

They joined many other fans to flood the social with heartfelt tributes.

Among the tributes was a video by Nigerian Afro-pop singer, Yemi Alade dancing with  DJ Arafat with the caption, “RIP DJ Arafat. #Africa has lost a legend.”

DJ Arafat died on Monday morning after a motorbike accident in an Abidjan hospital.

He died at the age of 33.

Beyonce Reveals Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade, Others For New Album

American Singer, Beyonce has released the tracklist of her new album entitled ‘Lion King: The Gift’ with top Nigerian artists on the list.

Nigerian stars including Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Tekno, Mr Eazi, Burna Boy among others are on the tracklist.

Tiwa Savage and Mr Eazi on the track Keys to the Kingdom, while Tekno and Yemi Alade are on the track Don’t Jealous Me. Burna Boy is on the track titled Jara E also in the Lion King album.

Other African artists in the album include Ghana’s Shatta Wale, South Africa’s Busiswa and Moonchild Sanelly; and Cameroon’s Salatiel.

Meanwhile, Yemi Alade has since shared pictures of her during the premier of the Lion King movie. She also shared a video of her on the Red carpet with Beyonce.

Yemi Alade Drops ‘Oh My Gosh’ Video Featuring Rick Ross

Nigerian Afro-pop star Yemi Alade has released the official video of her collaboration with American rapper, Rick Ross.

The colourful video is a remix of her hit single “Oh My Gosh”.

Yemi Alade in the new video displayed her usual vibrant Mama Africa vibes as Rick Ross dropped few verses.

The new video has since generated buzz on social media with her fans sharing different views.

While some think the collaboration is a hit, others say they expects more.



Yemi Alade has made her mark on the international space.

She has performed in many countries and shared stages with Mary J. Blige, Shina Peters, Wizkid, and Becca, among others.

She recently sold out a show in Mayotte with thousands of fans in attendance. Mayotte is an archipelago between Madagascar and Mozambique.

The ‘Bum Bum’ crooner also thrilled fans in Zambia and Guinea, last week, during the Easter celebration.

Bez Features Yemi Alade On ’You Suppose Know’ Remix

bez1Award winning singer, Bez, has released the remix of his song, ‘You suppose know’.

This follows the release of his sophomore album, ‘Gbagyi Child’, few days ago.

The love song which features Yemi Alade, was produced by Cobhams Asuquo.

The 13-track album has already started getting reviews from many.

Some have described the album as one which comprises serene and uplifting tunes, with bursts of rock and possessive inspiration.

Also it has been described by some as an album with so much attention to detail than anyother released in 2016.

Bez, who is originally named Emmanuel Bezhiwa Idakula, is a Nigerian multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and composer, and has carved a niche for himself in the industry with his unique genre known as “alternative soul”, a hybrid of soul, rock, jazz and R&B.

Yemi Alade Drops Highly Anticpated Single, “Gucci Ferragamo”

The highly anticipated track will however be available only on iTunes and Apple music between October 28, and November 4, 2016, she said.

Produced by Maleek Berry, “Gucci Ferragamo” shows a different side of the singer, and is expected to feature in her untitled third studio album.

Asides the track, Miss Yemi has equally released yemi2new feisty photos, shot by celebrity photographer, Emmanuel Oyeleke.

Nigerian Acts Win Big At 2016 MAMA Awards

yemi alade 3Nigerian artistes had a good outing at the 2016 MTV Africa Music Awards with Wizkid, Yemi Alade and Tekno emerging big winners.

Wizkid won three major awards on the night as Artist of the Year, Best Male, and Best Collaboration.

Sensational singer, Yemi Alade, won the Best Female, while Tekno was named Best Breakthrough Act.

In that category, she went up against Tiwa Savage, Supreme Mavin Dynasty (SMD), Josey, Vanessa Mdee and Mz Vee.

From South Africa, Cassper Nyovest won the Best Live Act while Emtee came tops in the Best Hip Hop Category.

Controversial athlete, Caster Semenya was named the 2016 Person of the Year while South African trumpeter, composer, and singer, Hugh Masekela got a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Sauti Sol from Kenya got the award for the Best Group.

The event held at the Ticketpro Dome in Johannesburg on Saturday was hosted by Television personality and businesswoman, Bonang Matheba.

MAMA’s Final Nominees: Wizkid leads With 3 Nods

Nigerian artists such as Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade, Olamide, Patoranking, Wizkid and many others have received new nominations in the coveted categories which included artist of the year, best female, listener’s choice, best breakthrough and song of the year. MAMA's, 2016, nominees,

In terms of nominations, Wizkid leads the pack of nominees from Nigeria. He was nominated in the artist of the year category, best male artist and in the personality of the year category.

X3M music artiste, Simi whose music continues to garner attention earns a nomination in the breakthrough category alongside compatriots, Tekno and Falz the bahd guy.

For the young singer, who actually has been craving the spotlight for almost a decade, with a handful of lukewarm songs over the years, getting a MAMA nomination is another milestone in her career.

She sits on the podium with another Mama fresher, hip-hop act Y-cee who got catapulted into the elites’ group after his 2015 hit, ‘Jagaban’.olamide

He earned a nomination in best hip hop category which pitches him alongside music heavyweights including YBNL Boss, Olamide whom he featured in his breakthrough track.

In 2015, Nigerian dance-hall and reggae music act Patoranking picked up the best newcomer prize and in just about a year, he is now being nominated for the best male category contending alongside Wizkid and South-African rapper A.K.A.

The 2016 MTV Africa Music Awards is scheduled to hold in Johannesburg, South-Africa later in 2016.
