Fulani herdsmen attack 9 villages in Plateau state

Twenty people were killed while several houses got burnt when nine villages in Riyom and Barkin Ladi local government areas of Plateau state were attacked on Saturday morning by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

The attacked villages include: Berom villages of Kakuruk, Kuzen, Ngyo, Kogoduk, Ruk, Dogo, Kufang, Kpapkpiduk, and Kai in Gashishi district of Barkin Ladi local government area

The attackers according to Channelstv sources were about one hundred and they stormed the villages in a commando style dressed in black attire with bullet proof vests and sophisticated weapons.

After invading the villages, the attackers proceeded to nearby villages in Riyom local government area where they destroyed properties and set houses ablaze but were repelled by the people who got information of the attack in Barkin Ladi.

The representative of Barakin-Ladi and Riyom federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Honourable, Simon Madwakon confirmed the incident describing it as unfortunate and barbaric which is coming at a time that all hands are on deck to bring lasting peace to the area.

According to the parliamentarian, he had complained to various authorities concerned over the presence of terrorist group within the two local government areas without any attention.

He said further that it was surprising that such deadly attacks could take place with the state of emergency in place in the communities. He however confirmed that no fewer than twenty dead bodies had been recovered while many more are still being discovered.

How then can we really define who we are and in what lines of division can we secede? Brothers killing brothers. Some of those killed would have married fulanis as wives or husbands.

    • yoruba man in Jos

yemmy, wit all apologies, u r ignorant of wat is happening, IT IS AN ISLAMIC AGENDA, D FULANI ARE MUSLIMS WHILE THE BEROM VILLAGERS ARE CHRISTIANS, PLEASE READ D NEWS OR GOOGLE D INTERNET, IM A YORUBA MAN LIKE U AND IT IS COMMON KNOWLEDGE DAT PLATEAU IS A CHRISTIAN STATE UNDER ISLAMIC ATTACK BUT BY THE GRACE OF GOD THEY WILL NOT SUCCEED IN JESUS NAME!

      • Hasdf

Youruba man in Jos@ This is not an islamic agenda, the fulanis are illiterates and don’t even understand islam, most of them do not even pray. Please investigate and you will realize what I’m saying, you have to learn to differentiate  between religion and     what people are doing in the name of that region. What Nigerians needs is education and jobs for the violence to stop, I assure you poverty is fueling the violence. Solution -Lets unite and vote for a  credible candidate beyond  cultural and religious difference, a person the would reduce corruption and have the Nigerian people at heart.

  • Osas

It is only in a banana republic like ours (Nigeria) things like this can happen. What are the ‘legislooters’ doing to stop these senseless killings? Despite their jumbo salaries, they just sit and watch innocent people being killed on daily basis! Well, after these fulani ghosts have finished killing the innocent people, they would have no other alternative than to face the ‘legislooters and their family members…There would be no hidden place for the wicked!

    • Ekwe

      not salaries. the bribes.

  • Master G

repeated crime all time in Nigeria,, some time i wonder if The president feel what i feel concerning the lost of  lives of the innocents ones.

Why can’t they sack all the governors in any trouble state like this? By the time one governor is used as a scapegoat, others will learn and beef up their state. It’s not every time one must blame FG/GEJ, blame the governors as-well coz they are the ones that trained them during election.

    • NG

Sacking a Governor won’t help this situation. It has escalated beyond that and the Federal Government knows it. National security in Nigeria does not not exist. Fact.

  • Gybrown2005

this is beyond western education, something is just behind this killing of innocent people

  • Tochibe65

How many times will the government wait for its people to be killed before they will act.  When you identify a problem and  refuse to solve it, it remains. these attacks and counter attacks the government knows them. The LGA Chairmen and the State Government should try and protect the innocent citizens. God Bless Nigeria.

I had the privileged of passing through Plataea State from Abuja to Adamawa during my service year, and fell in love with the City and North in general. But with these happenings in the North; am beginning to have a re-think. Does it mean that these problems have come to stay? Does it mean that these problems cannot be studied and solutions offered. If commoners safety cannot be assured, let the Government please meet these attackers, lets have peace. Even if peace entails them having their own and separate Country; let them have it and lets have peace. Am getting choked and feeling like nationalizing in another country.

    • Ekwe

Nnanna. greed will not want them to say the truth. forget about the country. nothing works here. FUCK

  • Anayo

I am Igbo man in Ghana. I think that the problem in the north is all about education  because no normal man or woman on this earth will ever kill a human being just for fun. The Governors in those affected state should put more time and money in the education and make education fees affordable for them and nigeria in large. North leaders should let the north nigeria to know that IGBO, HAUSA, YOROBA. are not an enemy we are nigerians and that is what we are for ever .please am asking the north people to stop killing because we nigerias out side are becoming nothing in the face of other people in their Country.

    • Ekwe

anayo you do not understand the politics of insecurity. the insecurity is not about education it is same boko haram that has been changed to catle herdsmen. nigerian government will tell you what they want you to hear.

  • Enoch Onyemaobi

This is a strategy to exterminate Christians and the
    real indigenes of Plateau
    State. Christians should
get themselves well armed to be able to repel or fight back when a crime of
this magnitude is perpetrated. The earlier Christians wake up the better because
these terrorists seems to enjoy of some high ranking army officers and
politicians otherwise how were they able to perpetrate this heinous crime when
there is state of emergency in the concerned local government areas and how and
where did they get the military / policy regalia that they used?

IF THE GOVERNMENT CANNOT PROTECT US AGAINST BOKO HARAM, WE WILL JOIN BOKO HARAM TO PROTECT THEM AGAINST THE GOVERNMENT. THEN WE HELPLESS PEOPLE CAN BE SAVED.

The truth about the crisis in Jos is that, indegines sold their land over the years to the settlers and with the advent of the present democratic dispensation in 1999 coinciding with period of the start of the crisis, the indegines would want to make sure by all means they occupy all the political offices (council chairmen, House members and Senate seats) in predominantly held areas by the settlers. The islamisation theory is employed by the indegines to justify their struggle. Fools have tried, wise men have failed. May God help us in this country.
