NigerianPoliceThe Imo State Police Command has paraded some suspected criminals for crimes ranging from kidnapping, stealing to cultism.

Speaking on the arrests before parading the suspects at the command headquarters in Owerri on Saturday, the state capital, Commissioner of Police, Abdulmajid Ali, told journalists that the arrests came as a result of the Operation Scorpion launched by the command few weeks after his assumption in office.

He said the three kidnap suspects, Cyprian Uduak, Chimaobi Omelo and a female, Endurance Happy, were arrested in a black Toyota Camry at Ohaji, a border town between Imo and River States by the men of the command after they received a signal that the suspects were heading to Imo State after picking up a victim, Cyril Echesi along the Onitsha/Owerri expressway.

One of the other suspected criminals paraded was 24-year old, Chijioke Odunze, an alleged specialist in kidnapping of babies and stealing. He was arrested after he forcefully took away a year old baby.

Meanwhile, the police boss appealed to residents in the state to equip the police with adequate information in any incident of crime in their locality. He further assured the people of the state that the command would stop at nothing until crime and other criminal related activities in the state were brought to barest minimum.
