Audu OgbehAll Progressives Congress chieftain, Audu Ogbeh, has apologized to the leadership of ‘Bring Back Our Girls’ campaigners over his comments about the group which has continued to generate reactions.

In a personal letter sent to the group in Abuja, the former National Chairman of the PDP said that his statement at an APC function was not intended to paint the group as an APC sub-group, especially because less than 2% of the group are members of the APC.

A portion of the apology letter from the former Minister of Communications reads: “If my statement caused you discomfort, I do apologize, but reiterate that I have nothing but respect and admiration for you for keeping a six month vigil and telling the world that the Nigerian conscience is not entirely dead.

“This world is watching us and making judgements. I wish you God’s blessings and protection.”

Reactions have trailed Audu Ogbeh’s statement that Nigeria’s major opposition party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, was behind the ‘Bring Back Our Girls’ campaign group.

The APC chieftain had made the claim in Abuja while addressing party faithful during the official declaration of General Muhamadu Buhari as the party’s presidential aspirant.

According to Audu Ogbeh, the ‘Bring Back Our Girls’ campaign group is led by members of the APC.

Activities of the ‘Bring Back Our Girls’ campaigners has long been discredited by some as politically motivated, even though they have kept the issue of the abducted schoolgirls burning locally and internationally.
