protest UKSome Nigerians in the United Kingdom staged a peaceful protest against the killing of students in Yobe and abduction of students in Borno Stateby members of the Boko Haram sect.

A few number of them were outside the Nigerian High Commission in London to register their displeasure at the incessant spate of killings of Nigerians.

Though few in number, they tapped into the numerous voices in Nigeria protesting against government’s perceived inability to stem the bloodshed.

Our London correspondent, Doris Okenwa, captured the voices of the small gathering.

This protest is coming as some women in Nigeria, gathered in some cities of Nigeria including Abuja, Lagos, Ekiti, Port Harcourt, to protest the killings by the terrorists. They also decried the attacks on innocent school children in Yobe state.

Meanwhile, the Federal Government has ordered the closure of some secondary schools in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states because of security threats being faced in these states.

Schools closed were: Federal Government Girls’ College, Munguno, College of Science and Technology, Lassa, both in Borno State. Federal Government Girls’ College, Potiskum, Federal Government College, Buni Yadi, both in Yobe state, and the College of Science and Technology in Michika in Adamawa State.
