The Yobe State governor, Mr Ibrahim Gaidam, has flagged-off campaign rally ahead of his re-election bid in the 2015 general elections, with a call on the people of the state to vote massively for the All Progressive Party (APC) for a meaningful change to be achieved.
In his speech at the ground of the rally staged in Sabon Nangere, the capital of Nangere Local Government Area of the state, located in Yobe south senatorial zone, Governor Gaidam told the gathering that the Boko Haram, Kidnapping, robbery and other social vices were product of Political failure at the centre.
He urged the people of the state to vote the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) out for such vices to come to an end.
“The spread of violence across the country are all products of political failure of the PDP government at the centre.
“The Boko Haram, Kidnapping, robbery and other social vices are all products of maladministration on the part of the PDP-led government at the centre and we must change the status quo if meaningful progress can be achieved,” Governor Gaidam said.
He expressed displeasure with the absence of federal presence in the state, saying that “if the APC was given a chance at the centre come 2015, all these social vices would be tackled through provision of employment and meaningful opportunities for jobless youth”.
Governor Gaidam said that within the state, the APC-led government, which he had the opportunity to be at the helm of affairs since 2008, had recorded delivery of over 90 per cent of the campaign promises made and assured the indigenes of the state that more would be done if re-elected.
He listed his achievements which include; urban and rural roads construction, free maternal and child care as well as accident victims among others in the area of education, empowerment and job creation.
The governor, who called on the people of the state to use their voter cards wisely, also urges them to vote massively for the APC. He assured them that he would consolidate on the gains of democracy if given another mandate.
The state Deputy Governor Abubakar Aliyu, on his part, praised the Governor’s initiatives for transforming the state within the shortest period assuring the people that the state would benefit immensely if the APC was given another opportunity.
He said that APC’s doors were open for interested members saying they would never regret joining the party.
The zone B campaign rally held in Nangere also featured presentation of flags to aspirants from the zone and defected members received into the APC fold.
The next APC campaign rally in the state is schedule for Gashua, the Bade Local Government Area for the Yobe north senatorial zone and will be followed by the grand rally in Damaturu the state capital that will be graced by the APC presidential candidate Muhammadu Buhari.
