OshiomholeApril 1, 2015 was a day of celebration for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State following the victory of General Muhammadu Buhari against the incumbent President Jonathan.

Governor Oshiomhole led a long procession of party members and supporters from the Benin Airport down to Oba Ovoranmwen Square.

The APC government, which was initially in the opposition, has suddenly become the party in power and to cap the celebrations, Edo State Government threw a musical concert featuring top Nigerian artistes.

This also featured an unexpected performance by Chief of Staff, Patrick Obahiagbon.

Governor Oshiomhole did not hide his joy as he took over the dance floor severally to the delight of the people.

Afterwards, he commended the citizens for their support while insisting on peaceful conduct during the polls ahead.

Addressing the mammoth crowd at the Oba Ovoranmwen Square, Governor Oshiomhole said that the victory of General Muhammadu Buhari was victory for the people, victory for the nation as well as victory for the nation’s democracy.

He thanked the people of the state for their support and for being part of the change story.

Although Edo State did not quite deliver in the presidential elections, their loss was made up for by the gains in other states.

From the event, it appeared one thing on the minds of the APC candidates is that their celebrations would continue after the State House of Assembly elections.
