
The Governor made the promise during a visit to a dry season farming ongoing at Bina village under Muye /Egba ward in Lapai LGA.
This was after he returned from the eight days Fidau prayers of late Prince Abubakar Audu, who was the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress in Kogi State election.
He inquired of the challenges faced by the farmers especially during the dry season farming, even as the farmland is always over flooded during raining seasons.
The Governor assured the farmer that he would send a group of delegates to inspect the place and to offer proper recommendations to him.
He urged the farmers to also engage in sugarcane farming, stressing that it would add more value to their farming activities in the area.
Governor Bello promised to support the farmers with improved rice seeds, fertilisers, irrigation and other farming equipment to enable them embark on commercial farming improve the economic base of the people.
He encouraged them on large cultivation beyond the present status while assuring them that the State government would buy their yields after harvest at reasonable prices.
The village spokesperson, Mr Abdulkarim Usman, said Governor Bello was impressed by the farmers’ hard work, which he saw.
He said the entire village was happy with the surprise visit of the Governor, stressing that it has encouraged them in their farming activities.
Usman hinted that they would immediately start forming committees, as directed by the Governor while urging the State government to urgently fulfil it pledges.
