The students, under the umbrella body of the National Association of Ondo State Students (NAOSS) staged the protest to express their grievances on the inability of the State Government to pay their bursary award since 2014 till date.
The students numbering hundreds, barricaded the major highways in the city, stopping the flow of traffic and paralysing commercial activities at the city centre for over three hours on Monday.
Speaking with reporters, the National President, of the NAOSS, Charles Iwakun, called on the State Government to pay their outstanding bursary awards.
Responding on behalf of the State Government, Ondo State Commissioner for Information, Kayode Akinmade, appealed to the students to exercise patience, as the government was fully committed to their welfare.
Mr Akinmade said that the delay in the payment of the bursary was due to shortage of funds due to the drastic reduction in the revenue allocated to the state from the Federal Government.
