The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it has no intention of scrapping the use of card readers for the conduct of future elections in Nigeria.
The Edo State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Sam Olumekun, made the statement on Wednesday.
Mr Olumekun, who paid a courtesy call on the Edo State Commissioner of Police, Chris Ezike, said that INEC would not go back on its promise to continue to use technology to improve the conduct of elections in Nigeria.
The Edo State Commissioner of Police pledged to collaborate with INEC to ensure a free and fair poll in the state.
