A bus driver has been kidnapped along Ikere/Akure Road in Ondo State.

The Commissioner of Police in the State, CP Undie Adie, confirmed the incident to Channels Television via telephone on Wednesday.

He said contrary to news making the rounds on some social media platforms that 10 passengers were kidnapped from the 18-seater bus conveying passengers from Ikere-Ekiti to Akure, only the driver was kidnapped on Tuesday.

The vehicle was said to have been blocked by suspected hoodlums at about 4:00 am at a spot close to the NYSC camp in Ita-Ogbolu, after which the driver was whisked away.

According to the CP, men of the Special Anti-Kidnapping Squad (SAKS) of the Command have since started combing the nearby bushes in order to rescue the victim and also arrest the hoodlums.
