Afrobeats superstar Wizkid delivered a thrilling homecoming performance on Sunday, December 28, as he headlined his highly anticipated ‘GOAT: The Greatest of All Time Experience’ concert in Lagos, during the peak of the Detty December festivities.
Held at the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Marina, the concert drew tens of thousands of fans, transforming the historic venue into a hub of music, lights and spectacle.
The show formed part of the wider FutureFest cultural festival, designed to spotlight innovation and African creativity.
The Lagos concert came after months of performances across Europe and North America, making it Wizkid’s most talked-about return to his home city in recent years.
Announcing the show on December 2 via Instagram, the singer simply wrote, “Lagos!! See you soon!” a message that instantly sparked excitement among fans and industry watchers.

Many fans travelled from neighbouring states to witness what was billed as a landmark celebration of Wizkid’s career.
Wizkid took the stage at about 11pm for a performance that stretched close to three hours.
Opening with ‘Jaiye Jaiye’, he led the audience on a journey through his discography, blending early-era hits with songs from later projects, including Made in Lagos and his recent work Morayo.
The crowd sang along word-for-word as he rolled through tracks such as ‘Ojuelegba’, ‘Soco’, ‘The Matter’, ‘Show You The Money’ and his recent hit ‘Money Constant’, which emerged as one of the night’s standout moments.

The production was one of the most ambitious seen at a Nigerian concert. A towering stage structure, massive LED screens, pyrotechnics, lasers and fire effects dominated the venue.
An AI-generated avatar of Wizkid was intermittently displayed on the screens, aligning with the tech-forward FutureFest theme, though it drew mixed reactions from fans who preferred seeing the artiste live on screen.
Wizkid made a grand entrance accompanied by the Kalakuta Girls dancers, setting the tone for a night that fused street energy with high-fashion aesthetics.

Despite the scale of the production, the singer maintained his signature laid-back charisma, commanding the stage with ease.
Several guest performers joined Wizkid during the show, further energising the crowd.
Tiwa Savage pulled up a surprise appearance, giving nostalgic renditions of ‘Ma Lo’ and ‘Dis Love’, reigniting memories of their earlier collaborations.

Young Jonn also showed up for the concert and thrilled fans with ‘Cash Flow’, while dancer Pocolee sparked excitement with his signature moves during ‘Money Constant’.
CDQ also took the stage, performing ‘Nowo E Soke’ to loud cheers.
Social media was awash with clips from the concert, showing a sea of fans waving phones in the air, flames shooting skyward, and Wizkid performing shirtless as the crowd roared in approval.
Many described the night as “historic,” praising the depth of the setlist, the collaborations and the scale of the production.
While reviews were largely glowing, some attendees criticised the use of the AI avatar, saying it created emotional distance for fans seated far from the stage. Nonetheless, the consensus remained that the concert set a new benchmark for large-scale live performances in Nigeria.
The ‘GOAT: The Greatest of All Time Experience’ concert capped a prolific year for Wizkid and reaffirmed his status as one of Afrobeats’ most influential figures, closing out Detty December with a statement performance that will be in the conversation.
