Police authourity on Wednesday confirmed that One person was killed and nine injured from a bomb blast that rocked a football viewing centre in the Tundun Wada area of Jos, the Plateau state capital about 9pm on Tuesday night during the Uefa Champions League semi-final second leg game between Barcelona and Chelsea.

An eyewitness said that when they heard the sound from the viewing centre, the rushed to the scene “we saw a man rushing into his vehicle and took off. When we came we saw the victims, we took about four of them to Plateau Specialist Hospital.”

The witness said that the condition the victims of the blast were was “very critical.”

“One of them had a burst on his stomach. His intestines were outside,” he said

The Plateau State Police spokesman Samuel Dabai who confirmed the attack, said that one of the fans later died at the hospital.

“We are investigating the incident at the moment,” Mr Dabai said.

“We don’t have any suspects yet and no arrests have yet been made.”

Jos has suffered a series of attacks from the fanatic Boko Haram terror group in recent times. The last one came during the Easter celebrations when revellers at a local bar were killed by bomb attacks.
