After thirteen weeks of voting, Gladys Asuquo, mother of the award winning singer,song writer, and producer, Cobhams Asuquo, has won Supermom celebrity edition.

The former clerical officer in the Nigerian Army clinched the winning prize of N2m after earning the highest votes by fans and followers of the ten finalists.

According to the executive producer of the show, Sola Fajobi, she is expected to donate her cash prize to a charity of her choice and would be treated to an all-expense paid trip to Dubai.

Fuji music star, Abass Akande Obesere’s mother, Taibat Omobonike, emerged first runner up while Banky W’s Empire Mates Entertainment rapper, Skales’ mother, was second runner up. They both get N1m and N500, 000 cash respectively which would also be donated to a charity of choice and an all-expense paid trip to Dubai.

Other runners up are Julius Agwu and Tony Tetuila’s mothers.

Speaking on how Mrs. Asuquo’s story was adjudged the best of the ten, Fajobi said, “our viewer’s were moved to tears by the story of how Cobhams turned his disability to a success story. On how she managed to raise him, despite the inherent challenges.”

Mrs Asuquo said, “It wasn’t easy watching Cobhams do chores around the house and run errands like my other children but I resolved to make him as independent and capable of achieving anything he sets his mind to do. I showed him where his box of clothes was and would ask him to go get his clothes after bathing him.”

She also added that as he grew up, his love for music started coming to the fore as he would beat on anything he could lay his hands on, so I encouraged him by buying him musical toys.

Since the show began airing on May 26, the story of 20 Nigerian celebrities, as told by their mothers was the central focus. The participating celebrities include Cobhams, Skales, Obesere, Foluke Daramola, Flavour Nabania, Mr. Olu of the Yahooze fame, Ice K, one half of the enduring duo, Artquake, Kennis Music act, Jaywon, Tony Tetuila and female drummer, Ara.
Others were On-Air-personality, Yaw; actors: Femi Adebayo, Binta Ayo Mogaji, and Kunle Afolayan; comedians: Seyi Law and Julius Agwu; Kenny Saint Best, DJ Humility and Chico Ejiro.
