The Ministry of Education has revealed that the federal government is committed to improving teacher’s education in Nigeria as means to improve the quality of education in the country.

Speaking at the third international conference on Education Faculties in West Africa, the director of Formulation in the Ministry of Education, Mrs Taiwo Lawal, observed that teachers play a vital role in the development of a nation especially as nations of the world strive to meet the millennium development goals by 2015.

Mrs Lawal, who represented the Minister of Education at the event which was held at the Ibrahim Babangida University in Lapai, Niger state, emphasized the training of teacher trainers as a catalyst for development.

The Vice-Chancellor of the host university, Professor Ibrahim Kolo added that the institution is already taking steps to train education lecturers in the United Kingdom and Malaysia.
