The Yobe State governor, Ibrahim-Gaidam on Tuesday ordered that the curfew earlier imposed on the town of Potiskum be immediately relaxed by two hours.

With this new order, the restriction of movement in the commercial nerve centre of Yobe state now starts from 6pm to 7am as against the initial 4pm to 7am effective from today, 6 Tuesday November 2012.
A statement issued by the Special Adviser to the governor on Press Affairs and information Abdullahi Bego said the decision was taken after meeting with heads of law enforcement agencies in the state.
The statement called for the cooperation of the people of the state towards the restoration of peace in the state.
It also called on the inhabitants of the state to make regular use of the telephone numbers provided by the Joint Task Force (JTF) to report any suspicious movements in their neighbourhood believing that with the efforts of government, security agents and prayers, peace will prevail in the state and the country as a whole.
