A Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Hotoro Division, Dahiru Musa Majiya, has been shot dead at his residence around Sabuwar Gandu area of Kano, North East Nigeria.

Residents told Channels Television that some unknown gunmen who might have been following the DPO from his office on a tricycle shot him dead at about 7pm today and disappeared into thin air.

“Right now we cannot go out because the area has been completely surrounded,” a resident said.

All efforts to get the police spokesperson in the state to confirm this was not successful as his phone was switched off as at the time of writing this report.
