Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, who visited one of the screening centres at the staff training institute, Benin Centre, was confronted with interesting findings.
While some of the teachers owned up to their crimes, some of the them could not even read properly.
Among the panelists were members of the state Ministry of Education, the ICT unit of the state government and the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) which had vehemently resisted the screening exercise.
Mrs Osatohanmwen admitted to deducting three years from her original age after she was confronted with the fact that she could not have started primary school at the age of two.
An interesting scenario however played up when the governor asked one of the primary school teachers to read her Declaration of Age certificate. She could not pronounce “virtue” “conscientiously” “solemnly” among others to the bewilderment of those present.
Governor Oshiomhole who addressed the panel after the exercise, commended them for the job done.
