channels kids cupThe 24 teams selected for the Lagos Preliminaries of the Channels National Kids Cup have been put into two groups.

After the screening conducted by the Technical Committee, the chosen primary schools received clearance  for keeping to the rules and regulations of the competition.

Present at the ceremony were captains of the teams accompanied by a school official, representatives of Lagos State Football Association led by the Vice Chairman, Mr. Tade Azeez and members of the organizing committee.

It was Islamic Model Primary School that kicked off the ceremony and luckily got a bye to the next round of the tournament. The preliminaries which will be played on knock-out basis, had seven other teams who got automatic qualification to the next round. They are:

• Pampers Private School, Surulere
• Ijora Oloye Primary School
• Utopia Comprehensive School, Ijaiye-Ojoko
• Donmen Schools, Owode-Oniran
• St. Bernadette Schools, Gowon Estate
• Maidan Primary School
• Christ Assembly Primary School

At the end of the draw ceremony, the following pairings emerged:

• Ebute-Metta Primary School vs Highscope Schools
• Eunifrance Primary School vs Effortswille School
• Future Kids Primary School vs Dr. Teslim Elias Model Primary School
• Mercellina International School vs Perfecter International School
• Toydan Children School vs Goodness & Mercy Private School, Ikorodu
• Prime Montessori vs Toyibat Nursery & Primary School
• Catony Royal School vs Command Children’s School, Ojo
• Ago-Egba African Church Primary School vs St. Paul’s Anglican Primary School

The Lagos Preliminaries will be played from May 13 to 15 2014 at Campos Square and Onikan Stadium while the semi-finalists will represent the state at the National competition.
