
The protest is coming barely two weeks after suspected Fulani gunmen attacked three villages in Sanga local government, killing over 33 people.
The protesters comprising of leaders of various civil society organisations from the area carried out the demonstration in Barnawa area of the state capital, where they accused President Goodluck Jonathan and Governor Mukhtar Yero of being insensitive to their plight while the assailants continue to unleash mayhem against their people.
However, Governor Mukhtar Yero, who visited the affected communities to commiserate with the victims, assured them of his administration’s readiness to end the insurgency and bring the perpetrators to book. He also described the described the attacks as ungodly and inhuman.
Gunmen, suspected to be Fulani herdsmen, on Tuesday, September 16, raided three communities in Sanga Local Government Area, in the Southern part of Kaduna State, killing no fewer than 32 villagers.
The affected villages are Fadan Karshi, Karshi Daji and Unguwan Ganye, all in Sanga LGA.
The villagers said a total of 16 separate attacks have taken place in Sanga local government area alone between June to September this year.
The protesters also want the state government to rescind the alleged victimisation of one Christiana Musa, a senior civil servant who was relieved of her position by the state government for allegedly taking part in a protest over the incessant attacks in Sanga carried out by some angry women against the governor last week.
Many of the protesters expressed disappointed that President Goodluck Jonathan has not deemed it fit to visit the areas where the attack has claimed thousands of lives.
