Addressing the officers before their posting to the various electoral wards in the 23 local government areas of the state, the Commissioner of Police, Umar Shehu, warned them not to be compromised by desperate politicians, but to remain neutral in line with the police code of conduct.
He said that the command in collaboration with other security agencies is fully prepared for the elections and urged them not to intimidate the voters or allow themselves to be intimidated by hoodlums.
He also called on the officers to redouble their efforts towards ensuring a peaceful conduct of the election and also to remain at their various units before, during and after the election in order to forestall any breakdown of law and order.
The police boss also commended his men for the sense of professionalism they exhibited during the March 28 presidential election and challenged them to show the same spirit in Saturday’s election.
On his part, the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of zone 7, Patrick Dokumor, who is already in the state to monitor the April 11 elections, assured Nigerians that adequate security had been provided across the states under the zone during the election.
According to Channels Television correspondent in Kaduna, apart from the police, there is also heavy presence of soldiers in the state capital.
