The police have paraded the gang behind the kidnap of a member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Mr Suleiman Dabo.

Force Public Relations Officer, Mr Frank Mba, paraded the suspects on Wednesday at the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) headquarters in Abuja.

The gang was part of the 58 suspects paraded for their alleged involvement in kidnapping, armed robbery, car theft, unlawful possession of weapons and other crimes.

According to Mba, the suspects were arrested from several parts of the country by operatives of the ‘Puff Adder’, an operation launched against kidnapping and other crimes.

Items recovered from them include 18 AK-47 rifles, several rounds of AK-47 ammunition, nine pump action guns, five single barrel riffles, and one automatic pistol.

Others were one hand grenade, 53 live cartridges and several stolen vehicles.

Among the exhibit was a vehicle with a fabricated compartment to hide arms from unsuspecting members of the public.

Eight of the suspects were arrested for allegedly kidnapping Mr Dabo while another gang was responsible for the kidnap of students of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and a member of the House of Representatives from Sokoto State.

The only female among the suspects paraded was a Cameroonian arrested for car theft.

Others paraded were members of a gang responsible for the kidnap of some Turkish nationals in Kwara State, as well as suspected members of a robbery gang.

The Force Public Relations Officer urged Nigerians to be cautious and avoid being victims of such crimes.

He noted that the police have concluded investigations on all the suspects while they were concluding arrangements to charge them to court.
