The Kaduna State Police Command says its operatives have killed two suspected armed robbers during a robbery operation in the Barnawa area of Kaduna South Local Government Area (LGA).
A statement by the Kaduna Police Command Public Relations Officer, Mansir Hassan, said eight armed robbers stormed Gashash Estate in Barnawa with locally made guns and other dangerous weapons.
According to Hassan, they robbed the residents of various items, including phones, laptops, jewelleries, and other items.
He said that police operatives from Barnawa Division, Kakuri, Sabon Tasha, and a detachment of military personnel from the 312 Artillery Regiment, Kalapanzi, on receiving a distress call from the residents, rushed down to the area.

They engaged the criminals in a gun duel, during which two of them were killed while two others were arrested.
A police officer was wounded during the operation but is receiving treatment at a police clinic.
The security operatives recovered one locally made pistol, ammunition, and several dangerous weapons from the armed robbers.
The statement added that further investigation led to the recovery of stolen items, which include: seven mobile phones, three wristwatches, two laptops, two PlayStation gaming consoles, and assorted jewelries.
It also said that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing members of the armed robbery gang.
Meanwhile, the Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, has commended the swift response and collaboration between the police and the military.
Muhammad also applauded the support from the Department of State Service (DSS) and other security agencies in crime prevention in the state.
He reiterated the Kaduna Police Command’s unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and security across the state.

Meanwhile, Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna says 22 suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of some indigenes of the state in neighbouring Plateau State last Saturday.
The governor stated on Monday this when he visited the surviving victims of the attack at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in Kaduna.
He described the killing of the 12 Kaduna-born wedding guests in the Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State as barbaric.
